Dressing for Success – An Investment for the Long Term
Posted on: 06 Mar 2012 by James Farmer

IFA Magazine strives to give our readers that extra edge in as many ways as possible – not just by advising and updating on financial investments, but also by occasionally endorsing services and products that stand out as a cut above the rest. A high quality bespoke suit is a shrewd investment for any discerning successful serious businessman especially in more profound difficult times like these, when an individual’s application and drive, confidence and personal appearance are essential to get the cutting edge over the competition.

McCann bespoke tailoring is a premium grade bespoke tailoring and personal styling service that was established in London more than 15 years ago. The company’s reputation, both in the city and in the wider international arena, is second to none. But McCann’s decisive advantage is that, by working on a referral only basis and thus avoiding the added expense of retail showrooms and huge marketing campaigns, it is able to offer a full and semi-bespoke product of Savile Row quality for a fraction of the normal cost.  McCann’s business model has seen the company establish itself as a heavyweight in the industry without the heavy overheads – a wise move for both the business itself and its clients.

Simon Lloyd Fish, McCann’s Head of Tailoring, says:

“We are an established retail based business selling a premium grade product. But what makes us a little bit unique in this industry is that we try give back to our client base what we save in overheads. So a suit that would carry a £4000 price tag on Savile Row costs only £2500 if you buy it from us. And a £2500 Savile Row suit costs just £1500.

Our clients are focused on quality and service, rather than all the superfluous cost and complication that a traditional retail space normally entails. For our part, we find that our business is better for being streamlined and efficient. It gives us more time to provide a truly excellent and personal service.

McCann’s product range is of course predominantly focused on very sharp cut and high quality British business suits, but the firm also offers a range of modern casual wear, ceremonial and bridal wear for men, as well as luxury accessories such as bespoke shirts, ties, shoes, cufflinks and silver goods.

Not forgetting, of course, a substantial range of sportswear for hunting, shooting and golf. The McCann name is already well known for its links with the world of professional sports. The company is a partner with the Professional Cricketers’ Association , and also with the League Managers’ Association in professional football.  McCann’s suits and other clothing are regularly seen on first class sportsmen and executives from the worlds of cricket, rugby, golf, and football.

“We have some fantastic sporting relationships,” Simon adds, “and we work hard to make our clients feel very special.  We are currently dressing England wicket keeper Matt Prior and we are also making sure that Alan Curbishly and Howard Wilkinson look every inch the part in their roles for the LMA. I also had the pleasure of dressing and making a suit for Jason Dodd, ex-England footballer and Southampton FC youth coach for his wedding last year.”

McCann bespoke suits can start from as much as £4500 for a fully bespoke 12 week process. But Simon says that most clients opt for a semi-bespoke garment starting at around £1200, with some for as little as £800. Whatever the cloth, the quality and fit always remain strong.  A good structured wardrobe needs a mix of both practical and luxurious items.

To celebrate the new partnership between Logsdale London tailoring and IFA Magazine, all readers and members are eligible for a 15% reduction on any bespoke product over the value of £800.
