Second quarter results from Campbell Soup were a bit thicker than the market had been expecting.
The canned foods specialist reported fiscal second quarter net income of $205m compared to $239m in the year-ago period. Specifically, the US soup maker registered earnings per share (EPS) of $0.64 to surpass the consensus estimate of $0.62.
Sales in the quarter totalled $2.11bn, practically in line with the consensus estimate of $2.12bn.
The group now expects to achieve sales growth in the second half of its fiscal year.
By 4:01pm, shares of Campbell Soup were up 3.9% to $33.30.
