A cyclist sponsored by LJ Partnership, an investment firm advising institutional and private clients, has just achieved a second successive victory in the Transcontinental Race.

James Hayden took part in the bike race, Europe’s most challenging, covering 2,500 miles from Belgium to Greece.

Sponsored by LJ Partnership since 2016, James is a 27-year-old civil engineering student at Brunel University. He completed the race in a record nine days on 7 August 2018, crossing the finishing line 200 miles ahead of his nearest rival.

The Transcontinental Race is a self-supported bicycle race during which around 250 competitors ride some of the most challenging roads in Europe.

Riders plan, research and navigate their own course and choose when and where to rest.

LJ Partnership’s Stuart Davies said: “Many congratulations to James on this remarkable feat of long distance speed and endurance. He has made British sporting history in one of the world’s most challenging bicycle races, a true test of physical stamina, self-reliance and judgement.  We are delighted to have been able to support him in making this fantastic achievement for the second successive year.”

Hayden added: “A huge thank you to LJ Partnership for believing in and supporting me.  I would not be here without them and am so pleased to be able to share this. It is really amazing to win again.  I put in the work and with my experience it all came together.  None of this would have been possible without LJ Partnership; I am so grateful for their support.”
